AGM – December 5th
All plot holders, members and committee and invited to the MCCG Annual General Meeting on December 5th at 3.30pm down at the garden.
Busy Bee – this Saturday!
The Urban Carpenters will join us this Saturday to build the compost bays at the garden. There’s also lots of other things to be done. Come on down anytime from 10-4pm.
Plot Allocation Day – This Saturday!
If you’re lucky enough to have been allocated a plot then this Saturday is for you!
Come on down from 10am to help spread the top soil and mark out the plots, then join in the lucky dip at 1pm to see which plot you get!
We’ll put on a BBQ and drinks, but help us out by bringing a plate of snacks to share for lunch if you can.
Busy bee, this Sunday!
A reminder that our next busy bee will be held this Sunday, not Saturday; we’ve decided to rotate weekend days for those of you who work or have other weekend duties on Saturdays. So this is your chance to get down and dirty on the site!
We’re working on final plot allocations now, so if you’ve applied for one, this is a good time to show your involvement and help get the site ready so you can get gardening in your own plot.
The fun starts at 10am, and we’ll work until about 4pm. Come for an hour, come for the whole day – bring snacks and lunch, gumboots, tools, kids, dogs and we’ll provide tea, coffee extra tools and general good company. Post AFL Grand Final talk optional.
We’ll be holding a new members orientation from 11-11:30am, so if you haven’t been down before, this will be a good way to find out about how the MCCG started, what the garden will look like and how you can get the most out of being a part of it.
General jobs on the day will include: Finishing plot edging (a bit of woodwork), weeding, & mulching paths. We will be laying down newspaper and cardboard over the paths before putting mulch on top so whatever you do don’t recycle this week, bring these and reuse them instead down at the MCCG. We now have a water tank and a shed, and every working bee ends with the site looking more and more like a real garden.
Also – mark your diaries: Saturday October 9th is the next big day for the MCCG – following a morning’s busy bee, plots will be officially handed over to successful applicants!

Eachy Peachy Pudding and Pie!
Oh what a night! A ‘WOW” of a time was had by all who attended our Garden Party Fundraiser at Each Peach café on August 14.
Three eras of garden party were emulated. One room was set in the theme of a 1930s earthy soiree; another as a 50s outdoor-diner; and another as a 70s disco-BBQ. Helen and the gorgeous Each Peach staff provided us with an outrageously scrumptious 3 course meal whilst Buckleys beer and Allira wines ensured that everyone had a jolly ol’ time.
A bedazzling array of raffle prizes were up for grabs with generous donations from Melbourne Aquarium, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Readings books, Madman, The SBS Shop, The Abruzzo Club, and Fitzroy Therapeutics.
Guests were entertained by comedian, Daniel Burt along with our own didgeridoo player and story sharer, Shane Clarence.
It was also Bernie’s birthday so we got to help her celebrate too.
Thank you to all who came along.
