The DDO Wrap up
The day dawned windless and crisp. At 9:15 we realized that a yoga and meditation session would have to be postponed while we anxiously surveyed the 30 poles belonging to Chris’ marquee we needed to set up. Chris sailed in on his bike with the instructions 5 minutes later, averting a collective aneurism.

Fundraising Bulbs – Helping Us Grow
Help raise funds to build our Community Garden by selling spring flowering bulbs!
We’re recruiting people to sell beautiful spring bulbs to boost the Garden bank balance. Profits from sales will go towards a much needed water tank and building supplies.
It’s easy to get involved: just come along to our meeting this Wednesday, 10th of March at 7.00pm at the Edinburgh Castle Hotel (corner Albion Street and Sydney Road), introduce yourself to the group and collect a catalogue with simple to follow instructions, or, if you can’t make a meeting, email the coordinator your postal details and she’ll send you a fund raising catalogue and all the info you need to get you started. Email: [email protected]
Bulbs are easy to sell to your family, in your workplace, at school, and you’ll be contributing to our growing funds for the Merri Corner Community Garden so we can get started with breaking the soil.
(Or if you fancy buying some bulbs yourself, use the catalogue to place your own orders, and Eleisha will let you know where to send it and how to pay).
We’re making fantastic progress, and now is a great time to get involved and be a part of building our dream!
Fundraising BBQ at Bunnings!
On the 2nd January 2010, while everyone else was enjoying their holidays, the MCCG were busy fundraising at a BBQ at Coburg Bunnings.
We ended up raising around $1400 on the day, which is a huge boost to our funds, and could pay for something snazzy like a solar powered water pump!
I remember chopping at least 10kg of onions, turning at least 100 snags and handing out gallons of tomato sauce! Phew!
Here’s some pics from the day. Check out our mad BBQ skills:

Oh What a Night!
Thanks to everyone who came along to the inaugral Mery Corner Communuity Garden Quiz Night last Friday…we raised more than $3000, and it was a fabulous night – auctions loud and silent, raffles, a So You Think You Can Dance extravaganza and the Box of Truth (to find out what that is you’ll have to come along next year…)
Thanks also to all the MCCG friends and sponsors who donated vouchers, meals, goods, massages, books, bike accessories, cycling adventures, and to Vasili Kanidiadis (of Vasili’s Garden fame!), who came along as a special guest MC and ended up an honourary member of the MCCG.
We couldn’t have done it without you!

How to order your wines for Christmas
Are you on the lookout for wines for Christmas? We’re selling some wonderful wines from the Elgo Estate “Allira” range in time for the festive season – buying these wines will help raise much-needed funds to help us plant, dig, grow and build!
On offer from Elgo Estate’s Allira range are a chardonnay, a riesling and a shiraz, all carefully crafted to showcase the fresh and vibrant fruit characteristics that are a feature of the Strathbogie Ranges region.
And Elgo Etsate was the first winery in Australia (and possibly the world) to generate and be fully self-powered by renewable wind energy.
So they’re not only extremely tasty, but extremely environmentally friendly as well.
Prices range from $15 per bottle, $40 for three and $150 for a dozen. What a bargain!
If you’d like to know more about the wines, or to place an order – email Liz at: [email protected] – we can have them ready to go for the festive season!
